Support Worker - Learning Disabilities Service

About the role

Glenholme Specialist Healthcare is looking for Support Workers to join its Learning Disabilities Service in Stevenage. The role promotes independence, dignity and a fulfilling life for people with learning disabilities. No experience is required: full training and ongoing support are provided, and candidates from backgrounds such as retail, hospitality, cleaning, admin or customer service are welcome. The position is full-time or part-time with flexible working patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and emotional support
• Teach and support independent living skills
• Support community-based activities such as social outings, leisure and hobbies
• Offer companionship and build relationships
• Support medication and day-to-day health monitoring

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
• Reliability and flexibility to cover a variety of shifts
• Enhanced DBS check required

What we offer

• Pay of £12.75 per hour starting, rising to £12.85 after completing the paid Care Certificate and £12.95 with a Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care
