About the role

The Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) at Southend‑on‑Sea City Council is seeking a full‑time Systemic Family Therapist to deliver specialist psychotherapy across community settings, supporting families facing significant challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide systemic psychotherapy to families in homes and community settings.
• Offer expert consultation and guidance to practitioners and managers working with high‑need families.
• Lead and support the development of robust risk assessments for children and vulnerable adults.
• Deliver trauma‑informed interventions aimed at reducing risk, strengthening resilience, and promoting positive behavioural change.
• Contribute to the Families First transformation, working with child‑in‑need and child protection plans.
• Collaborate with Family Help teams to prevent children entering care.

Required profile

• Qualified therapist with experience in systemic family therapy.
• Demonstrated ability to work with complex family dynamics and trauma.
• Strong collaborative skills for multi‑disciplinary team environments.
• Commitment to evidence‑based, trauma‑informed practice.
• Capability to conduct and lead comprehensive risk assessments.
