Targeted Housing Advisor

About the role

Spencer Clarke Group is seeking a Targeted Housing Advisor to work with a South London local authority. The role involves providing specialist housing advice and casework to prevent homelessness, applying relevant legislation and collaborating with partners to secure suitable accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist housing advice and assess eligibility under the Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII.
• Manage a caseload, developing personalised plans to prevent and relieve homelessness.
• Make informed housing decisions and issue clear, compliant decision letters.
• Work with internal teams and external partners to secure suitable accommodation and support outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience delivering housing advice or casework in a complex frontline environment.
• Good working knowledge of housing legislation, particularly the Housing Act 1996.
• Proven ability to assess needs and make evidence‑based decisions.
• Experience working with vulnerable individuals and partner agencies.

Required skills

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £21 (negotiable for exceptional candidates).
• Fixed‑term contract of 3‑6 months minimum.
• Full‑time schedule: Monday‑Friday, 36 hours per week.
