Tax and Treasury Accountant (Fixed‑term Maternity Cover)

About the role

UWE Bristol is seeking a Tax and Treasury Accountant to provide maternity cover on a fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Planning, Reporting and Business Partnering, you will support the university’s tax compliance and treasury operations while collaborating with a wide range of internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the university’s treasury function, including cash modelling, forecasting and reporting.
• Manage day‑to‑day tax processes, prepare VAT and Corporation Tax returns, and advise on tax implications of strategic initiatives.
• Oversee the university’s PCI compliance environment.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and compliance of the tax function.
• Prepare statutory returns and internal financial reports.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with experience in tax and treasury accounting.
• Strong analytical ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Proven experience working with large data sets.
