Tax Assistant – Graduate / AAT Qualified

About the role

Our client, a leading accountancy practice in the North West, is seeking a motivated Tax Assistant to join their growing tax team. This position offers a solid foundation for graduates or AAT‑qualified professionals to develop technical tax expertise while supporting a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing personal and corporate tax returns.
• Support senior colleagues on tax compliance and advisory projects.
• Prepare tax computations, supporting schedules, and related documentation.
• Liaise with HMRC on client matters.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
• Contribute to tax planning assignments and research projects.
• Help with capital gains tax and inheritance tax calculations where required.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in tax legislation and regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or tax environment is desirable.
• AAT qualified, ATT part‑qualified, or graduate with a strong interest in tax.
• Excellent numerical and analytical ability.
• High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, organised and eager to learn.
