Teacher - Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated teacher to cover a maternity leave, delivering lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students at Oversands School. You will work with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them develop academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver curriculum for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a focus on English where possible.
• Support pupils with ASD and SEMH needs, fostering confidence and self‑esteem.
• Collaborate with in‑house psychologists, teaching assistants and therapy professionals.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and manage challenging behaviours.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Experience teaching secondary‑age students (Key Stage 3/4).
• Familiarity with SEND, particularly autism and SEMH.
• Resilient, dedicated and able to celebrate small progress with pupils.
• Commitment to the wellbeing and development of each learner.
