Teaching Assistant – 1:1 ASD Support (Full‑time, Temporary)

About the role

Reed is recruiting full‑time Teaching Assistants for Wirral Primary School. The positions involve 1:1 or 1:2 support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and for Year 6 pupils who require intensive intervention. You will work on‑site, Monday to Friday, helping children access learning, develop social skills and stay safe throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Reception or Year 1 pupil with ASD, implementing strategies set by the class teacher and SENDCo.
• Deliver 1:2 intervention for two Year 6 pupils performing below age‑related expectations, supporting them to engage with curriculum activities.
• Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning, structured play, and sensory breaks.
• Monitor and record progress, behaviour and achievements, contributing to progress reviews.
• Support transitions between activities, ensure safety during movement around the school, and supervise active pupils.
• Build positive relationships with parents, teaching staff and external professionals as required.

Required profile

• Compassionate and dedicated attitude towards supporting children with special educational needs.
• Physically active and able to supervise pupils who move frequently.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow SENDCo and teacher‑directed strategies.
• Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.
