Teaching Assistant – All‑Through SEN & Complex Needs

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a calm, patient and committed Teaching Assistant to join an all‑through specialist SEN school in Bournemouth. You will support pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5 who have a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, SEMH, communication differences and sensory needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent, predictable support throughout the school day, ensuring emotional safety.
• Work within class groups or deliver 1:1 assistance according to individual needs.
• Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive routines.
• Use calm, clear communication to build trusting relationships.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the multidisciplinary team.
• Adapt flexibly across KS1‑KS5 to meet the needs of the all‑through provision.

Required profile

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / Level 4 or above (evidence required).
• Experience supporting SEN is beneficial but not essential.
