Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Southport)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Southport from September 2026. This full‑time, on‑site position will initially run until the October half‑term, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Provide targeted one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils, including those with SEND.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to monitor pupil progress.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.

Required profile

• Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or a similar educational setting.
• Confidence supporting pupils across early years and key stages in both whole‑class and small‑group contexts.
• Ability to work patiently and enthusiastically with children of varying abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
