Team Manager - First Contact & Adult Safeguarding

About the role

Leicester City Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead its First Contact & Adult Safeguarding service. This role sits at the front door of adult social care, handling initial referrals, rapid triage and urgent safeguarding alerts. You will work in a hybrid model, combining on‑site collaboration with flexible remote days.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the intake, assessment and triage of adult social care referrals and safeguarding alerts.
• Make swift, evidence‑based decisions in high‑risk or low‑information situations.
• Provide regular reflective supervision and performance management for social workers, assessment officers and intake practitioners.
• Maintain service quality standards and manage workflow across a hybrid workforce.
• Collaborate with senior council partners to ensure timely crisis intervention and risk management.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with a current Social Work England registration.
• Proven experience in a front‑door adult social care setting (e.g., First Contact, Access & Triage, MASH/Safeguarding Intake).
• Demonstrated ability to assess risk quickly and implement crisis interventions.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Leicester two days per week.
