Team Manager – Retail (Temporary Contract)

About the role

As a Team Manager in one of Waitrose’s South West London stores, you will lead a team of Partners to deliver the distinctive Waitrose customer experience. This temporary position runs until 30 January 2027 and offers the chance to influence sales, profit and brand perception in a fast‑paced grocery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day shop operations, ensuring legal, secure and efficient store performance.
• Use commercial skills to maximise sales and profit while minimising waste.
• Maintain high levels of product availability, merchandising and visual standards.
• Drive customer satisfaction and loyalty through excellent service.
• Lead, inspire and manage the team, including scheduling holidays and handling absences.
• Foster a supportive culture of care, belonging, pace and productivity.
• Implement and embed change initiatives consistently across the shop.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
• Ability to build high‑performing teams, recognise talent and conduct honest performance conversations.
• Passion for retail with an understanding of competitors and economic factors.
• Strong planning skills to meet deadlines and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Clear communication and influencing abilities at all organisational levels.
