Technical Author – Aviation Maintenance Documentation

About the role

Airbus Helicopters UK (AHUK) is seeking a Technical Author to produce and maintain task cards and work cards for helicopter maintenance engineers and technicians. You will work closely with maintenance managers, planning engineers and hangar staff to translate complex engineering data into clear, usable documentation that supports safe and efficient aircraft servicing.

Key responsibilities

• Convert technical information from Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Service Bulletins into sequential, detailed task cards.
• Maintain version control to ensure the shop floor always uses the latest revision of documentation.
• Conduct usability testing with technicians to verify that instructions are practical in the work environment.
• Collaborate with key users to continuously improve the accuracy and relevance of documentation.
• Support maintenance planning and Part‑145/Part‑CAMO compliance through accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Experience with complex engineering processes and technical writing.
• Ability to extract, interpret and rewrite technical instructions in clear English.
• Engineering qualification at Level 3 or above (or equivalent).
• Attention to detail, logical reasoning and strong administrative skills.
• Eligibility for DBS and SC security clearance and compliance with export regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace.
• Familiarity with Envision documentation software.
• Knowledge of Part 145 and Part CAMO aviation regulations.
• Understanding of maintenance planning processes.
