Technical Demonstrator in TV & Film

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Demonstrator to lead hands‑on sessions in location sound, studio audio, Pro Tools and audio post‑production, while providing technical support for live productions, practical workshops and assessments at Newton Park.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging demonstrations covering location sound, studio audio, Pro Tools editing and mixing and post‑production workflows.
• Provide technical support for live broadcasts, multi‑camera productions and student practical sessions.
• Operate and maintain professional equipment such as Sound Devices recorders, radio and boom microphones, timecode gear and 7.1.4 immersive audio suites.
• Collaborate closely with students, academic staff and the wider technical team to foster innovation and practical learning.
• Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment materials related to audio and broadcast technologies.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of Pro Tools, including editing, mixing and post‑production workflows.
• Practical experience with professional field recorders (e.g., Sound Devices) and multi‑track timecode recording.
• Hands‑on location‑sound expertise, including boom operation, radio mics and concealed lavalier placement.
• Experience of live or broadcast audio environments, covering microphone handling, routing, mixing and monitoring.
• Demonstration or teaching experience in higher education or the creative industries.
