Technical Manager – Food Safety & Quality

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Manager to lead our Food Safety and Quality Management System in South Essex. The role ensures compliance with HACCP, BRC, GMP, FEMAS and EU/UK regulations, safeguarding product integrity and consumer safety.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
• Ensure the HACCP plan is current and all related checks are performed.
• Manage food safety records, including knife, toolbox, weight and glass control.
• Maintain traceability records for purchased ingredients (COCs/COAs) and supplier documentation.
• Coordinate with department heads to keep procedures up‑to‑date.
• Conduct internal audits, implement corrective actions and oversee document review processes.
• Liaise with pest‑control and cleaning contractors, audit cleaning operations and keep records.
• Develop and deliver food safety training programmes and support health & safety training.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, GMP, FEMAS and EU/UK food safety regulations.
• Experience training and leading teams, preferably in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to conduct internal audits and drive corrective actions.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
