Technical Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function of a specialist insulation and construction products manufacturer. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will own the product lifecycle from research and development through to manufacturing, testing, certification and customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Technical Department, acting as the technical authority across the business.
• Drive new product development for insulation and construction materials.
• Manage technical projects from concept to commercial production.
• Support manufacturing by resolving technical challenges and improving processes.
• Oversee product testing, validation, certification and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and product documentation.
• Provide technical advice and support to customers, sales teams and external partners.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, testing houses and other stakeholders.
• Monitor product performance and identify continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Manage departmental budgets and technical resources.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a technical leadership role within insulation, construction products or building‑materials manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of product development, testing, certification and UK industry regulations.
• Ability to translate scientific knowledge into practical engineering solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Track record of driving innovation and contributing to business strategy.
