Telecom Digital Payload Analysis & Systems Engineering Placement

About the role

Join Airbus Defence and Space to develop and optimise innovative telecom satellite payload architectures. You will work within a multidisciplinary team that analyses state‑of‑the‑art payload performance and supports projects such as OneSAT, delivering flexible and secure satellite solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development of payload architecture through performance evaluation and definition of operational tools.
• Prepare performance analyses, evaluate payload settings against mission needs and support design trade‑offs, including RF performance analysis.
• Support laboratory test‑bench activities, payload integration validation and environmental test campaigns.
• Collaborate with UK and French teams on RF, digital signal processing, antenna systems and systems‑engineering aspects.

Required profile

• Undergraduate studying Telecommunications Systems, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
• Basic knowledge of computer programming (e.g., Matlab, Python).
• Strong desire to work in the space industry and an understanding of systems‑engineering thinking.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Matlab and Python.
• Experience with modelling tools such as Simulink, SystemVue or ADS.
• Familiarity with RF instruments and test equipment.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets).

• Salary of £24,500 per year.
