Temporary Finance Assistant – Sage & Excel

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Temporary Finance Assistant to support our finance team during a busy period. The role is part‑time, four days a week (Monday‑Thursday), and the successful candidate will start immediately, working on‑site in Hoghton.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices and match them to purchase orders using Sage.
• Raise and process sales invoices and credit notes.
• Post and allocate customer receipts.
• Reconcile supplier statements, resolve discrepancies and run supplier payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with credit control.
• Support month‑end processes including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Maintain accurate financial records in Sage and handle finance queries from suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide ad‑hoc accounting and administrative assistance to the finance team.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role.
• Hands‑on experience with Sage accounting software within the last two years.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Sage accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and data manipulation.
