Temporary Purchase Ledger Clerk (4‑week contract)

About the role
We are looking for a temporary Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a finance team in Carlisle for a four‑week period. The role involves handling the full purchase ledger cycle, from invoice receipt to final reconciliation, ensuring supplier accounts are accurate and up‑to‑date.
Key responsibilities
- Process and match supplier invoices against purchase orders.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Investigate and answer invoice or payment queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor shared finance inboxes and route communications appropriately.
- Assist with journal entries and routine reporting tasks.
- Provide ad‑hoc support to the wider finance team as required.
Required profile
- Previous experience in purchase ledger or accounts payable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
- Confidence using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Availability to start immediately or at short notice.
