Test and Validation Engineer (RF Systems)

About the role

CRFS, a Motorola Solutions company, creates advanced technology for monitoring the radio spectrum. It is looking for a hands-on Test and Validation Engineer (RF Systems) in Cambridge to join its Systems Engineering team and verify systems that turn prototypes into mission-ready products. The role balances structured V-model verification with rapid fail-fast testing.

Key responsibilities

• Define and run system-level validation plans that retire risks early in development
• Plan and carry out functional, performance and stress tests in lab and field settings
• Validate complete integrated systems of hardware, RF, software and mechanical parts
• Lead fault-finding and root cause analysis from the embedded level to mechanical integration
• Maintain test rigs, fixtures and automated procedures to improve validation repeatability
• Produce documentation for technical reviews, NPI handover and engineering changes

Required profile

• Background in testing, validation or integration of complex RF or electronics systems, preferably in NPI or R&D
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering or a related field
• Methodical troubleshooting approach and comfort with imperfect prototypes
• Equivalent practical experience is highly valued

Required skills

• Hands-on use of spectrum analysers, signal generators and oscilloscopes
• Troubleshooting integrated hardware and software issues
