Principal Network Engineer

About the role

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is looking for a Principal Network Engineer, described as a High-Skills Network Technical Lead. The role ensures the ongoing support and reliability of all components in the LSEG ecosystem, including platforms, networks, applications and services. It provides 4th-line support to the Network Products and Services functions and focuses on creating and maintaining software automation that improves the reliability and availability of digital platforms and their software delivery pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain systems, software and applications across domains, making technical design and amendment decisions independently
• Analyse data and business requirements and turn them into technical requirements aligned with infrastructure and network capacity needs
• Complete reporting documentation in line with internal and external standards
• Schedule and coordinate capacity and network upgrades with business areas, and lead upgrades when vital, working with internal teams and third parties
• Build accurate documentation and monitor system performance
• Support the deployment of emerging engineering patterns across development teams and coordinate design work in the infrastructure and network domain

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field
• Previous roles in architecture or engineering are valuable
• Significant experience in technology-focused positions
• Proven years of experience in network products and services, ideally with Cisco, Juniper and Arista technologies
• Strong spoken and written English, with client management and collaboration skills

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols (CCIE preferred)
• Expertise in LAN, WAN, HSRP, NAT, MPLS, VPN, GRE, BGP and OSPF
• Knowledge of multicast (IGMP, RP, PIM) and low-latency technologies used in finance
• Data centre networking, SDN, Cisco ACI, VxLAN
• Network packet analysis and capture tools
• Cloud environments and network security basics
• Service management processes, ideally ITIL
• Python and Ansible
