Thermal Engineering Placement (12 months)

About the role

This 12‑month placement offers you the chance to work within Airbus Defence and Space's Thermal Analysis & Space Physics team. You will support analysis and testing campaigns for a variety of space missions, assist senior engineers in building thermal models, and develop tools to improve departmental efficiency. You will also gain hands‑on experience with Microsoft Excel, Python and specialised thermal and space‑physics software.

Key responsibilities

• Support analysis and testing campaigns across multiple spacecraft projects.
• Assist a lead thermal engineer in building and maintaining thermal models to meet customer requirements and perform design trade‑offs.
• Develop tools and analysis techniques to increase the efficiency of the thermal engineering department.
• Use Microsoft Excel, Python and dedicated thermal/space‑physics software for engineering design and analysis.

Required profile

• Undergraduate enrolment for the full placement duration, with a degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Design/CAD, IT or a related field.
• Strong interest in space, good problem‑solving and teamwork abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
