Trainee Estimator – CNC Precision Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Trainee Estimator to join a successful CNC precision engineering company near Camberley, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a CNC Miller or Turner to transition their hands‑on skills into an office‑based estimating position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and quotations for customer enquiries.
• Follow up quotations and manage contract reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
• Process sales orders and create parts, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and production plans in the control system.
• Generate work orders, purchase orders and subcontract documentation.
• Place purchase orders for raw materials and expedite manufacture of parts and assemblies.
• Liaise with Production and Quality teams to provide up‑to‑date progress information to customers.
• Collect data for reporting and prepare metrics for the Commercial Manager.
• Perform general duties to support efficient department operation.

Required profile

• Previous CNC experience, preferably in aerospace or another safety‑critical industry.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical documentation.
• Interest in developing estimating and commercial skills.
