Trainee Field Technician – Leak Detection (Hampshire)

About the role

This is a hands‑on, field‑based position supporting a leading water utilities company in detecting and locating leaks across the underground water network. No prior experience is required – full training and accredited qualifications are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with detailed surveys to identify the type and location of water leaks.
• Support repair teams by providing accurate leak detection information.
• Carry out project and survey work across the network, including night shifts.
• Upload data to a laptop, complete paperwork and maintain records.
• Drive between sites using a company van and perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending and stretching.
• Follow strict health and safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to work outdoors.
• Willingness to follow procedures and health & safety regulations.
• Basic computer skills.

Required skills

• Operation of leak detection equipment.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
