Trainee Freight Planner – Logistics (Bedford)

About the role

This entry‑level position offers a hands‑on introduction to freight planning within a leading UK distribution company. Based at the Bedford site, you will support multi‑modal shipments to key overseas markets while developing core logistics skills.

Key responsibilities

• Process orders across air, sea and road modes, focusing on shipments to Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
• Maintain accurate order records, job authorisations, document uploads and tariff applications.
• Collaborate with UK and EU teams, transport partners and clients to resolve queries and source rates.
• Participate in operational reviews, follow‑up actions and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist with EU/UK customs clearance guidance when required.

Required profile

• Experience or interest in transport, logistics or freight operations.
• Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Basic numeracy and literacy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
