Trainee Lab Technician – Optics

About the role

Join Specsavers as a Trainee Lab Technician and start your career in optics. You will work in a modern laboratory environment, using computer‑controlled equipment to produce high‑quality eyewear for customers. This full‑time, onsite position offers hands‑on training and the chance to develop technical expertise while supporting a dedicated team.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret optical prescriptions and technical drawings to produce customer orders.
• Operate and maintain computer‑controlled lens‑cutting and edging machines.
• Identify and correct faults, re‑assemble glasses, and perform testing and adjustments.
• Prepare and organise materials, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
• Maintain high standards of quality assurance throughout the production process.

Required profile

• Strong communicator who works well within a team.
• Detail‑oriented with a passion for precision work.
• Flexible, adaptable and eager to learn new technical processes.
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Experience or interest in using optical laboratory equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret optical prescriptions and technical drawings.
• Basic manual dexterity for assembling and adjusting eyewear components.
