Transport Controller – Sherburn-in-Elmet

About the role
The Transport Controller will support the Hire Team and depots by managing the deployment of the Welfare Hire Fleet. Reporting to the Support Services Team Leader, you will coordinate schedule changes using internal resources and third‑party partners while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate data for all fleet assets and update capacity and de‑fleet information promptly.
- Communicate quote rules and fleet changes to customers, ensuring they are fully informed of exchanges and swap‑outs.
- Allocate fleet efficiently, considering cost and operational impact.
- Liaise with customers, sales, subcontractors, depot staff and head‑office teams.
- Resolve fleet‑related issues and oversee weekly reporting to the Sales Director.
- Review and improve working processes, implementing changes as required.
- Uphold company policies, employee handbook procedures and any ad‑hoc duties.
Required profile
- Strong communication and planning abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to changing workflows.
- Calm under pressure and capable of delegating when necessary.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
