Transport & Logistics Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to lead our end‑to‑end logistics function in Manchester. The role will report to the Head of Service Excellence and is responsible for delivering safe, efficient and compliant transport operations while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop transport, planning and logistics coordination teams, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Oversee the full logistics cycle from planning through to delivery, ensuring seamless collaboration between warehouse, planning and transport functions.
• Drive On Time In Full (OTIF) performance, resolve operational issues and maintain effective communication with drivers and stakeholders.
• Optimise fleet utilisation, route planning, driver allocation and scheduling to maximise efficiency.
• Manage fleet availability, vehicle defects, compliance with UK transport legislation, Operator Licence, EU tachograph and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Maintain audit‑ready records, monitor driver compliance and promote a safety‑first environment.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in transport or logistics management.
• Strong understanding of UK transport regulations and compliance standards.
• Ability to analyse operational data, forecast demand and model resources for peak periods.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
