Urgency & Emergency Care Clinician (UECC) – North West Ambulance Service

About the role

The Urgency & Emergency Care Clinician (UECC) will join the Integrated Contact Centres across the North West, providing remote patient assessments and ensuring high‑quality clinical care. This permanent position (with 12‑month secondments leading to permanency) offers the chance to develop specialist skills while supporting a vital emergency service.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct remote clinical assessments of patients calling NHS 111.
• Maintain high clinical standards and deliver excellent patient care.
• Provide clinical advice to both clinical and non‑clinical colleagues.
• Mentor and support staff returning to practice or new to the role.
• Manage the clinical queue and refer calls to partner organisations offering Clinical Assessment Services.

Required profile

• Post‑registration clinical experience in primary, acute, emergency department or pre‑hospital settings.
• Experience in triage.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Resilient, highly motivated and passionate about patient care.
• Ability to adapt to a new and challenging environment.
• Basic computer skills.
