Vehicle Technician – Automotive Service Role

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Vehicle Technician to join a busy automotive dealership in Swindon. You will work in a modern workshop, delivering servicing, diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer standards while contributing to a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, maintenance and repair on a wide range of vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out comprehensive vehicle health checks and identify additional repair opportunities.
• Record all work accurately in the dealership’s management system.
• Collaborate with Service Advisors and Workshop Controllers to manage job progress.
• Adhere to warranty procedures, health and safety regulations and quality standards.
• Support workshop productivity targets and participate in continuous training.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) Vehicle Technician qualification.
• Proven experience in a franchised dealership or high‑quality independent workshop.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Mechanical repair and maintenance techniques.
• Electrical fault diagnosis.
• Operation of vehicle diagnostic equipment.
• Conducting vehicle health assessments.
• Understanding of warranty compliance procedures.
• Desirable: MOT tester qualification, EV/hybrid system knowledge, manufacturer brand training.
