Veterinary Surgeon – Clinical Support (Graduate)

About the role

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to provide clinical support across our Mercer & Hughes practices in Essex. Based in Saffron Walden, you will rotate between sites, delivering high‑quality care in both first‑opinion and hospital settings while enjoying a varied and independent working style.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holiday and clinical cover for multiple practices.
• Consult in sole‑charge and team environments.
• Perform routine and advanced surgeries.
• Work hospital shifts alongside experienced clinicians.
• Manage a diverse first‑opinion caseload.
• Support in‑patients and complex cases.
• Participate in a weekend rota.

Required profile

• 2+ years of small‑animal veterinary experience.
• Enjoys variety and independent work.
• Eager to broaden clinical expertise.
• Comfortable collaborating with a supportive team.
