Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal (2+ yrs experience)

About the role

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years of small‑animal experience to provide clinical support across our Mercer & Hughes practices in Essex. Based in Saffron Walden Veterinary Hospital, you will rotate between branch surgeries, delivering both first‑opinion and hospital‑level care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holiday and clinical cover for multiple practices.
• Consult independently in sole‑charge and team settings.
• Perform routine surgeries and assist with advanced procedures.
• Manage a varied first‑opinion caseload.
• Support hospital in‑patients and complex cases.
• Participate in a weekend rota and travel between sites.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of small‑animal veterinary experience.
• Confidence working independently and in a team.
• Interest in expanding clinical skills across surgery and medicine.
