VMU Manager – Vehicle Maintenance Operations

About the role
Join the UK's largest Mercedes‑Benz commercial vehicle dealership as a VMU Manager. You will lead a workshop team, ensuring high‑quality service for fleet customers while fostering a positive, motivating work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and control workforce resources to meet fleet demand.
- Manage labour costs and third‑party usage.
- Ensure compliance with safety audits and contractor codes of practice.
- Oversee facility planning, bay allocation, tool and equipment optimisation.
- Prepare investment calculations for workshops, facilities and HR.
- Review and adjust workshop service pricing in line with market conditions.
- Measure and report daily workshop performance, including retail sales, warranty and internal contracts.
- Handle WIP management, cash control, recruitment, induction, coaching and retention of staff.
- Set target agreements with employees and monitor achievement.
Required profile
- Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance.
- Previous experience in a similar managerial role within the automotive workshop environment.
- Resilient with strong coping skills.
- Excellent communication, able to inspire and motivate a team.
- Highly motivated to achieve personal and team success.

What we offer
- £55,000 per annum salary.
