Volunteer Visitor - Dementia Residential Aged Care

About the role

The Specialist Dementia Care Pathway (SDCP) Cottages in Cardiff provide a calm, supportive environment for people living with complex dementia. HammondCare is looking for Volunteer Visitors to enrich the lives of residents through meaningful social interaction and compassionate companionship. Training, ongoing support and supervision are provided so volunteers feel confident in their role.

Key responsibilities

• Visit residents regularly, offering companionship and social interaction such as sharing a quiet moment, chatting over tea, reading aloud, listening to music together or simply being present.
• Support residents' quality of life and help them feel less isolated.

Required profile

• Personal or professional experience supporting someone living with dementia, or a basic understanding of dementia as a clinical condition, including its emotional and cognitive impacts.
• Empathy and a respectful approach to individuals with cognitive difficulties.
• Age 18 or older; an NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for weekly visits between Monday and Friday, 9:30am to 12pm.
