Ward Clerk – Mental Health Inpatient Service

About the role

We are seeking a friendly, professional Ward Clerk to join our mental health inpatient service for men at Cygnet Victoria House in Darlington. In this full‑time, on‑site role you will support clinical staff by managing ward administration and ensuring accurate, timely information flow.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clinical staff with day‑to‑day ward administration.
• Maintain accurate recording and circulation of patient information.
• File patient case notes and conduct regular audits to keep paperwork up to date.
• Handle telephone calls, cover reception and perform other administrative duties as required.
• Submit reports on time and keep care plans current.
• Liaise with medical secretaries to ensure timely submission of reports.

Required profile

• Experience in administration within a fast‑paced hospital environment.
• Organised, diligent and able to follow processes and procedures strictly.
• Knowledge of mental health and patient confidentiality issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve problems quickly and work under pressure.
