Waste Cleaning Operative – Full‑Time Temporary Role

About the role

We are looking for a Waste Cleaning Operative to join our team at the Household Waste Recycling Centre in South Gloucestershire. The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) on a temporary contract, working outdoors in all weather conditions to keep the site clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Guide the public to the correct disposal points and provide clear instructions.
• Manage traffic flow through the recycling centre to ensure safety.
• Maintain accurate records of material removal and container exchanges.
• Support supervisors in segregation, storage and exchange of waste containers.
• Keep the work area tidy and prevent material overspill.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and welfare regulations for staff and visitors.

Required profile

• Experience in front‑facing customer service, preferably in a waste or recycling environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong conflict‑resolution skills and a professional attitude.
• Commitment to promoting recycling and adhering to site rules.
• Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to follow organisational policies.
