Weighbridge Operative

About the role

Breedon Group plc is looking for a motivated, safety‑focused Weighbridge Operative to manage the weighbridge at its Inverness site. You will be the first point of contact for drivers, ensuring accurate weighing, proper documentation, and smooth traffic flow while upholding health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome all site visitors and provide a professional, courteous reception.
• Induct first‑time drivers, explain site rules, and issue maps and safety information.
• Verify driver access using MP Connect cards and guide non‑compliant drivers through the correct process.
• Monitor and enforce health‑and‑safety protocols, including PPE, load sheeting, and engine shut‑off.
• Communicate clear site instructions to drivers to maintain efficient traffic flow.
• Operate the weighbridge system, accurately record vehicle weights and material quantities, and ensure legal compliance.
• Issue uplift and delivery tickets, recording all data needed for invoicing.
• Liaise with sales and distribution teams on product availability, delivery schedules, and vehicle issues.
• Plan and allocate daily deliveries, optimising fleet usage.
• Handle customer enquiries with empathy and escalate complaints to the Quarry Manager when required.
• Maintain a clean, organised weighbridge office and perform weekly equipment inspections.
• Identify and report any faults, damage, or irregularities in line with health, safety, and operational standards.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of customer service principles and operational processes.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with drivers, contractors, colleagues, and the public.
• High attention to detail to ensure accurate weighing, recording, and payment processing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to learn and use weighbridge software.
• Familiarity with MP Connect access system.
