Welcome Team Coordinator – Receptionist

About the role

We are seeking a Welcome Team Coordinator to be the first point of contact for patients at Deptford Medical Centre and Penrose Surgery. This full‑time, permanent position provides a warm, calm, and professional in‑person experience, supporting safe patient flow and proactive care.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly reception and waiting areas.
• Collect and record patient observations and medical vitals accurately.
• Manage patient flow, supporting clinical teams with up‑to‑date information.
• Use empathy and de‑escalation techniques to handle difficult situations.
• Escalate urgent in‑person concerns to appropriate staff.
• Open and close the practice, including security procedures.

Required profile

• Enjoys direct interaction with people and demonstrates compassionate communication.
• Remains calm and professional under pressure.
• Organised and comfortable using IT systems.
• Team player focused on patient experience and quality care.
• Healthcare experience is helpful but not essential; full training provided.
