Windows Engineer - 2027 Summer Internship

About the role

Jane Street offers a full-time summer internship for a Windows Engineer starting 28 June 2027, based in London. Interns are paired with full-time employees who act as mentors and work on real projects needed by the team. The Windows Engineers manage systems built in-house, open-source tools and integrations that support the Windows desktop and server estate and the company's tech infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside full-time IT staff to learn how automation tools and key infrastructure components are designed, deployed, secured and maintained.
• Brainstorm ways to improve systems and workflows, write code and learn new technologies.
• After initial training, work on projects such as developing and maintaining Windows automation and configuration management tools, improving CI/CD systems, cross-platform frameworks and software development environments, and improving the efficiency and scalability of tools, services and monitoring.
• Implement editor and workflow improvements to streamline coding and deployment.

Required profile

• A strong programmer with high potential and an aptitude for learning.
• Curious, collaborative and intellectually curious, with a passion for solving interesting problems.
• Eager to learn, humble and able to ask questions and admit mistakes.
• A strong communicator, comfortable both at the command line and in a GUI.

Required skills

• Experience with .NET languages (C# or F#).
• Knowledge of operating system fundamentals and computer architecture.
• Basic understanding of network protocols.
• Familiarity with AI/LLMs and prompt engineering.
