Wing Structure Design Internship – 12.5 months

About the role

Join Airbus’s Wing Engineering Team in Filton, Bristol for a 12.5‑month design placement. You will work alongside structural engineers and program managers to develop innovative wing structures for various Airbus programmes, gaining hands‑on experience in both composite and metallic design.

Key responsibilities

• Design composite and metallic wing structures across multiple Airbus programmes.
• Create design schemes, frontier and interface drawings, and manufacturing data (component drawings).
• Assess design solutions against time, cost and quality targets and coordinate off‑load to suppliers when required.
• Ensure structural designs comply with airworthiness, product requirements and Design Quality Assurance criteria.
• Define and deliver technical studies, trade studies and investigations to support solution delivery.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in Engineering, Design Technology, Science, Maths or a related field for the full placement duration.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to propose solutions and solve problems.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering tasks within agreed time, cost and quality parameters.

• Salary of £24,246 per year.
• 35‑hour work week with flexible and hybrid working options.
