About the role
The Work and Health Coach will join Southwark Council’s new WorkWell programme, supporting residents who face physical or mental health barriers to staying in or returning to work. You will provide personalised one‑to‑one coaching, develop action plans and link participants to health, wellbeing and employment services.
Key responsibilities
- Coach and empower WorkWell participants through personalised support to overcome health‑related barriers and achieve employment goals.
- Create tailored action plans and deliver practical careers assistance, including job searching, CV writing, interview preparation and workplace adjustments.
- Connect participants with health, wellbeing, training and employment services to provide holistic, joined‑up support.
- Build strong relationships with employers and identify workplace solutions that help participants retain suitable jobs.
- Manage a caseload, keep accurate confidential records and monitor progress against agreed outcomes and targets.
- Contribute to programme reporting, gather feedback and share learning to continuously improve the service.
Required profile
- Experience of one‑to‑one support or coaching, preferably within an employment, health or wellbeing programme.
- Understanding of barriers faced by people with physical or mental health needs when accessing or remaining in employment.
- Proven ability to work to targets and deliver high‑performance outcomes.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse backgrounds.
- Accurate approach to information management, record keeping and confidentiality.
- Creative, flexible problem‑solving and partnership‑building skills.
