Yard & Production Operative

About the role

The company is seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard & Production Operative to support the day‑to‑day operations of a busy production facility and yard. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will handle goods, maintain stock control, organise the yard and operate machinery in a fast‑paced, physical environment. The role requires own transport due to its rural location.

Key responsibilities

• Loading and unloading lorries safely and efficiently
• Receiving, checking and booking in deliveries
• Measuring and cutting products to specification
• Picking, preparing and accurately recording stock
• Storing and putting away materials while keeping the yard tidy and safe
• Assisting the Production Manager with daily operational tasks
• Operating plant, machinery and production equipment
• Supporting production and dispatch activities as required
• Following health and safety procedures at all times

Required profile

• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
• Reliable, hardworking and punctual
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Adaptable and willing to perform a variety of tasks
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Attention to detail and accurate work habits
• Experience in a warehouse, yard, production, manufacturing or construction environment

Required skills

• Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential)
• Experience operating plant or production machinery
