Year 5 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support for Autistic Students

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Year 5 Teaching Assistant to provide specialist SEN support for two autistic pupils in Crewe. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young learners by helping them navigate daily school life with confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one support for two Year 5 autistic students, ensuring engagement and calm in the classroom.
- Adapt and modify lesson materials to suit individual learning needs.
- Teach coping strategies for stress, sensory challenges, and transitions.
- Assist small groups with phonics and targeted academic interventions.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust strategies.
Required profile
- Experience supporting SEN, preferably autistic children, in a primary school setting.
- Patience, empathy and strong communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to fostering children’s learning and development.
