Young Carer Engagement Coordinator – Part‑time (2 positions)

About the role

Action for Carers is seeking two enthusiastic Young Carer Engagement Coordinators to join its Engage and Connect Service in Surrey. In this part‑time, fixed‑term role you will create safe, fun environments where children who provide care at home can relax, build confidence and form friendships.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and deliver a varied programme of weekend, holiday and community‑based activities for young carers aged 5‑12.
• Provide a welcoming space that encourages children to be children and supports their wellbeing.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with young carers, their families and local schools or community partners.
• Identify and engage hidden young carers who may benefit from the service.
• Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding and child‑protection policies.
• Manage schedules, resources and reporting for the 21.6‑hour weekly workload.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children in a professional setting such as a school, youth club, childcare provision or play scheme.
• Confidence in planning and leading age‑appropriate, engaging activities.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding and child‑protection responsibilities.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and families.
• Organised, adaptable and capable of handling a varied workload.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Alignment with the values of focus, inclusion, respect and excellence.
