About the role
Academics is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Gloucester. You will work closely with a pupil who requires additional learning support, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 tailored support for a pupil with special educational needs to help them access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
- Implement strategies and interventions outlined in the child's education plan.
- Support the pupil's emotional, social, and academic development throughout the school day.
- Work in close collaboration with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers and contribute to progress reviews and reports.
Required profile
- Prior experience working with children, ideally in a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant capacity.
- Background in SEN support (ASD, ADHD, speech & language, etc.) is highly desirable.
- A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- A valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references.
