1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive secondary school in Chislehurst. The role provides dedicated support to a student with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with SEN throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
• Support the student's emotional wellbeing and behaviour using positive strategies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback on the student's development.
• Assist with classroom activities and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
• Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every student succeed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Adaptable, reliable, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
