12-Month Structured & Transactional Commodity Finance Internship

About the role

This 12‑month internship with the Structured Commodity Finance (SCF) and Transactional Commodity Finance (TCF) team in London offers graduates the chance to work on the full life‑cycle of commodity‑linked financing across the EMEA region. You will support the origination, structuring and monitoring of transactions while gaining exposure to senior directors and the global head of SCF.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in originating and structuring new SCF and TCF transactions, collaborating with EMEA directors and the global head of SCF.
• Participate in all transaction stages – due diligence, credit applications, committee approvals, implementation and ongoing monitoring.
• Support portfolio diversification and contribute to revenue growth within the department’s strategic framework.
• Help manage restructuring cases and transactions involving sanctioned counterparties.
• Prepare reporting for income, RWA/CWA, budgets and strategic reviews in liaison with the London AMO.
• Facilitate KYC onboarding for SCF EMEA clients and maintain intra‑departmental communication to optimise cross‑selling opportunities.
• Develop relationships with other banks to enhance the bank’s visibility and profitability in commodity finance deals.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (within 18 months) with a 2:1 degree in finance, economics or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical mindset, teamwork and communication abilities.
• Interest in commodity markets such as energy, metals, mining or soft commodities.

Required skills

• Understanding of commodity market structures and trends.
