12‑Month M&A Internship – Infrastructure & Energy

About the role

This 12‑month internship with the UK Global Investment Banking (GIB) team at CA‑CIB focuses on mergers and acquisitions in infrastructure, power, renewables, energy transition and TMT Infra sectors. You will work closely with senior bankers and contribute to both the origination and execution of M&A transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing marketing pitches in coordination with the GIB team, sector coverage and financing product teams.
• Support execution of buy‑side or sell‑side mandates, including process organisation, financial analysis, and creation of presentation and transaction documents.
• Review in‑house training materials to deepen understanding of valuations and M&A techniques.
• Seek guidance from experienced M&A bankers on technical matters and actively participate in team meetings.
• Engage in day‑to‑day departmental activities, ensuring smooth workflow and effective communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) graduated within the past 18 months with a 2:1 or equivalent.
• Prior exposure to financial modelling, M&A, corporate finance or investment teams is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of valuation, modelling techniques, financial theory and accounting.
• Familiarity with the investment‑banking sector and M&A processes.
• Strong analytical, numerical and written communication skills.
• Self‑starter attitude, able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Quick learner eager to develop new skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
