7.5T Customer Delivery Hub, Driver Technician

About the role

As a Technician Specialist at the Logic Park delivery hub in Leeds, you will deliver products such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets to customers' homes as part of a 2-person crew driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle. You will also coach and develop your delivery driver colleagues on home installations and customer service, acting as a role model for the John Lewis service. The role is permanent, full-time (41 hours per week across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends) and pays between £32,500 and £44,500.

Key responsibilities

• Start each day at the delivery hub and then drive a route
• Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand, with customer service as your top priority
• Coach, develop and assess your delivery driver colleagues
• Help load the lorry with the day's deliveries alongside the warehouse team
• Treat customers' homes with respect and handle unexpected situations well
• Install products efficiently and quickly, showing customers how they work
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies and maintain a safe working environment

Required profile

• Age 18 or over
• Previous installation experience (installer accreditation is offered)
• Manual C1 UK driving licence (maximum 6 points) and DCPC or Drivers Qualification Card by the first day, plus a tachograph card
• Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle
• Previous customer-facing role
• Good verbal communication and a good understanding of technology

Required skills

• Desirable: in-home delivery and installation of electrical and furniture products
• Desirable: installation and disconnection of white goods
• Desirable: electrical installations (including integrated appliances) and TV wall mounts
• Desirable: replacing domestic light fittings, accessories and cooking appliances, and assembling flat-pack items
