AAT Qualified Accounts Assistant

About the role

TPF Recruitment is partnering with a growing independent accountancy practice in Epsom to hire an AAT‑qualified Accounts Assistant. The role provides hands‑on experience in bookkeeping, VAT, year‑end accounts and tax compliance across a diverse client portfolio, within a supportive and structured environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bookkeeping records and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Assist in the preparation of year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare Self Assessment tax returns and support other personal tax compliance work.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information, answer queries and provide ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate financial records using cloud accounting software.
• Support senior team members with ad‑hoc accounting assignments, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Required profile

• AAT Level 4 qualification or enrolment in an ACCA/ACA apprenticeship.
• Previous experience in a UK‑based accountancy practice.
• Proactive, organised, detail‑oriented and able to work to deadlines.
• Friendly, collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn and develop a career in accountancy.

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Experience using cloud‑based accounting platforms.
