Account Manager (Public Sector)

About the role

An established North East business is seeking an experienced Account Manager to join its friendly, supportive team in Gateshead. The role combines customer account management with operational coordination, ensuring public sector clients receive efficient service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of public sector client accounts and act as the primary point of contact.
• Coordinate and allocate work to external resources, monitoring service delivery against contractual KPIs.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships, manage expectations and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records, update internal systems and liaise with clients on upcoming requirements.
• Collaborate with the wider team to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a public sector procurement environment.
• Strong understanding of public sector contracts, frameworks and tender‑based service delivery.
• Experience managing client relationships within local or central government, healthcare, education or housing.
• Proven ability to monitor KPIs and meet contractual obligations.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
